More than 75% of Sri Lankan people still live in rural areas and depend on a traditional, agricultural lifestyle. There is little focus on rural industrial development within the country's economic policies and programs, and children are the most at-risk of missing out. In higher education there is a large gap between available training and the country's needs. Lack of facilities and services are persistent barriers.
Sri Lankans value education as a tangible tool for their children to prosper economically and socially.
The primary focus of this project is to provide scholarships to at-risk children to enable them to have an education and become contributing members of society.
Key Areas of Investment
- Needs assessment
- Scholarships for at-risk children
- Upgrade of classroom resources and facilities
