From Survive to Thrive
Hope, opportunity and safe spaces for students in the Solomon Islands
Across the Solomon Islands, local leaders and volunteers have been quietly transforming schools and clinics—painting walls, wiring classrooms, building dormitories, and creating places where children can learn with dignity.
Thousands of students now have something so simple, yet life changing—somewhere to sit when they learn. Thousands more have access to clean water, power, books, and safer spaces to grow and belong.
Now, Batuna Adventist Vocational School needs urgent support to take the next step.
This phase of the project will deliver four essential upgrades:
- Renovation of the Transit House, giving skilled volunteers a safe base to live and work while they
complete critical projects - Replacement of the Generator, which currently fails to power classrooms and facilities
consistently - Construction of a Machine Shop, where students will gain practical trade skills and protect vital
tools and materials - A new 96-bed Boys’ Dormitory, replacing makeshift accommodation that no longer offers the
safety, space or structure students need to live and learn well
This is not a new idea. It’s the next step in a proven, community-led response—built on trust, service,
and a long track record of getting things done.
