The Role
We are seeking expressions of interest for a Finance & Administration Officer with previous non-profit experience to join our team. This role coordinates all financial and administrative operations for WRA and provides essential support to our charity. The position is work-from-home, and while applicants from any location are welcome, we are strongly seeking candidates based in or near Newcastle, NSW. This role will support effective administration throughout our charity, assisting our existing staff, partners, and supporters. It will help maximise the supporter experience and streamline internal communications, systems, and processes to achieve a seamless experience for partners, donors, and supporters.
This role has three core areas of tasks:
- Finance and Bookkeeping: Administration of accounts payable and receivable, payroll, BAS, international remittance advice forms, international transfer payment configuration, end-of-month reports, donor receipting, and donor account recognition.
- Customer Service: Servicing of our partners and donors and responding to enquiries through our info email and finance inbox. Ensure that WRA’s partners and supporters receive timely, professional, and meaningful one-on-one support as they reach out to us, assisting them as they deepen their understanding and engagement with our work.
- Administration and Website Support: Provide general operational administrative support across the team to help achieve organisational goals. This includes executive assistance to the CEO as required and managing the customer relationship management (CRM) system to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable data entry and reporting. In collaboration with the website contractor, ensure smooth integration of the payment gateway between the website and our accounting system, and test donation forms and other website functions as needed.
This role supports and works closely with the Finance & Business Manager, Program Manager, and CEO to ensure effective finance and administration support throughout WRA. As part of a small team with an “all hands on deck” approach, this position requires flexibility and collaboration across multiple areas to ensure the organisation runs effectively, and supports our culture of continuous improvement and a strong, values-driven team culture.
This role would suit a financial and administrative generalist who is collaborative, confident, professionally warm, and teachable, with a positive attitude.

Core Details
This permanent part-time role is 20 hours per week across Monday to Thursday. Hours can either be divided equally across the four days—working within school hours from 9:00am to 2.30pm each day, including a 30-minute break—or weighted, with longer hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and a shorter day on Monday. Time in lieu is also available upon request.
This role requires occasional in-person team meetings, along with bank and postal runs as required.
As this is a core role within our small team, we are specifically looking for a candidate with the right competency, team chemistry, character, and capacity. We are seeking a candidate who upholds the Christian faith and values, which are foundational to our work.
