World Relief Australia began last century providing ‘war relief’ during and after World War II. It also undertook community development projects in Australia’s nearest neighbour, Papua New Guinea.
World Relief Australia (ABN 71 714 394 942, ACN 125 059 967) is the trustee of the World Relief Overseas Aid Fund (ABN 96 112 236 539) which had for many years operated in the Asia/Pacific region under the name Campaigners for Christ PNG Overseas Aid Fund. Other than a name change to reflect the increasing scope of the organisation in helping the needy around the world, the fund and its trustee continue unchanged the purposes and activities of its original founders.
World Relief Australia works with Australian and In-country Delivery Organisations to provide relief and development programs to needy people in developing countries. Although our motivation is from our Christian faith, World Relief Australia seeks to help anyone in need regardless of religion, race, gender, age or political persuasion.
While we are not associated with World Relief USA, we share their values and focus on the poor and marginalised of this world. Our objectives also include equipping and strengthening Australian organisations to mobilise their local communities to partner with like-minded organisations overseas. Together we seek to deliver emergency relief during natural disasters and initiatives to tackle entrenched and intertwined problems caused by poverty, disability, marginalisation and oppression.
