Role Purpose:
Project Description & Outcomes wanted from the project –
• This a 6 months Sewing Social Enterprise Project to train at least 12 participants
Activities will include training in:
• sewing skills,
• English skills ,
• Employment skills
• Business skills.
• Life skills to integrate in Australia
Role specific tasks:
• Work to project plan to ensure that project objectives are achieved
• Recruit and induct participants for the project
• Maintain an environment conducive to learning new skills and putting them into practice
• Welcome participants to the group and ensuring that a friendly supportive environment is maintained
• Maintain an attendance and progress record for each participant
• Report to the project management committee on a regular basis the progress of each member including attendance
• Work to coordinate logistics for the project ie. preparation and packing up of workspaces
• Ensure that safe work practices are maintained at all times; including periodically inspecting the equipment to identify any real or suspected defects
• With Project management team develop budget management process to track income and costs and ensure fair compensation for participants and the project
Requirements:
Essential
• Experience in Community Development and Project coordination
• Proven experience in working with communities and community members from diverse backgrounds including working across gender, age, ability etc.
• Ability to work with different stakeholders to support the project
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
• Experience of being from a refugee or migrant background
Technical Competencies:
• Ability to speak and write English
• Able to speak French (desirable but not essential)
• Friendly and welcoming but also able to make hard decisions when necessary
• Reliable with real dedication to helping the participants more fully integrate into the Australian community
• Ability to listen to participant feedback
• Problem solving skills – capacity to identify problems and propose solutions
