Mr and Mrs Pa, with just a little support, have been doing so well. Living on the Cambodian side of the Thai-Cambodia border, they are responsible for the welfare and education of their grandchildren while the parents work away in Thailand. Mr Pa has a viable charcoal business and works alongside his wife growing vegetables to feed the family and sell for profit. The children have been in school and advancing through their classes. Life was good.
But what a difference a day makes! There have been heavy rains in Thailand and to avoid catastrophic flooding, Thai authorities released water which inundated low-lying areas of Cambodia. The Pa’s vegetable garden has been washed away. Their property is under water and they must move around by boat. We are currently seeking to rent higher land for the Pa’s to move to and some emergency relief to get them back on their feet again.
